Danish Warmbloods ranked 1 in new research

The Dutch company “Sport Horse Breeding” has conducted a new study on the breeding of dressage horses and has revealed a new ranking (as an alternative to the WBFSH ranking) on the world’s best dressage horse producing studbooks and countries.

Danish Warmbloods ranked 1 in new research

Mistral Højris and many other Danish Warmbloods competing internationally have sent Denmark into rank 1 in a new study from the Netherlands.

The WBFSH ranking in dressage is topped by KWPN, then Hanoverian 2nd and Danish Warmblood 3rd. This new survey shows that the best dressage horse producing studbook is Danish Warmblood. KWPN drops to 4th place and Hanoverians drop to 7th place.

In other words, of all studbooks Danish Warmblood is the breed where the highest percentage of the foals makes it to the FEI Top 300 dressage horses.

A similar ranking has been produced with countries instead of studbooks, as some countries have several studbooks, and this nation ranking is topped, by far, by Denmark followed by The Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and then Belgium.

The study and the rankings are published in the Dutch magazine “Horse Genetics” in February 2011.
